Pairaband(Begum Rokeya)পায়রাবন্দ (বেগম রোকেয়া)

Pairaband is a vill in Mithapukur upazila of Rangpurdistrict.Begum Rokeya( Rokeya Khatun),the colonist of Bengali women's awakening,was born on December9,1880 in this Payarabandvillage.Begum Rokeya's father Zahiruddin Mohammad Abu Ali Haider Saber was anoblelandowner.His mama 's name is Rahatunnessa SaberaChoudhurani.Begum Rokeya was tutored Arabic and Urdu at home in agreement with the social system of that time.Begum Rokeya started learning Bengali and English intimately from her elder family IbrahimSaber.In 1896,Begum Rokey was married to Syed Sakhawat Hossain,Deputy Magistrate ofBhagalpur.Syed Sakhawat Hussain was free-spirited and encouraged Begum Rokeya towrite.This noble woman entered the erudite world in 1902 through a story called Pipasa.


Begum Rokeya Memorial Center has been established on3.15 acres of government managed land coming to Begum Rokeya'shouse.There are beautiful auditoriums , office,4- storey dormitory structure, exploration room, library, ultramodern guest house and brass form of BegumRokaire.Besides, colorful trainings are given then to help the youth in employment in the training center calledBKME.However, nothing remains of Begum Rokeira's ancestral home except the slipup walls.
